Keflex
I recently had major surgery to remove a large benign tumor on my abdomen. I was prescribed Augmentin for ten days after surgery to control infection as the incision was quite large, stretching from hipbone to hipbone. My doctor did not know that Augmentin always gave me an intense yeast infection within two days of my taking it. I didn't realize until I had left the hospital that the prescription was for Augmentin as it was prescribed under another commercial name. Instead of changing the prescription to possibly a less effective antibiotic, I decided to try taking Keflex at the rate of two capsules per day. Not only did I not get yeast right away, I was able to finish the prescription without any flareup at all...a full ten days worth. I felt great the whole time! I am sold on Keflex and will always have it in my cupboard anytime I may have to take antibiotics.
I took Keflex when my tooth abcessed suddenly and my dentist had to place me on antibiotics. I had a history to leaky gut problems and citrobacter overgrowth that I had just spent two years trying to clear up. Even though I had to take three separate rounds of antibiotics, Keflex prevented a relapse and I managed to finish my dental repair without any more digestive problems returning.
